About HIV and AIDS

AIDS is the abbreviation for “Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome”. AIDS is a serious disease that destroys the body’s ability to fight infections.

The threat of HIV/AIDS influences me to; abstain from sex before marriage since it is the 100% way to prevent the disease.

At school I’m taught about the effect connecting to HIV/AIDS. I am also taught that, this disease damages the blood cells of the body and the disease will also kill the affected person.

I don’t experience that, the disease is a taboo to talk about. My view to the more we talk about the disease, the more we educate people about the symptom and effects connecting to the disease.

I have never seen or known a person who is affected by the disease.

The best solution I think will deal with HIV/AIDS is;

• To abstain from sex
• To be faithful to your partner
• To use condom when having sex.

General HIV/Aids

GENERAL HIV/AIDS

The fast spread of HIV/AIDS is having a very big influence on my live. It really makes me to be moral because I never want to die of Aids. When ever I watch people with aids on T/V, I felt very bad within so it have both good and bad effect on me. Sometimes I join groups to go out to inform the public about the merciless killer.

 

At school, I didn’t know much about the disease at the basic level rather I learnt more of it at the secondary college. It was during my secondary school that I learnt that the disease can be got from other sources apart from sexual activities. At school too, I was asked to join an Aids group.

When I was young I was told the diseases is a curse from God to punish prostitutes, some people also told me it was brought down from space by some white scientist but to me I don’t really know how it came about. Religious people also believed it’s a punishment from God. If scientists can’t tell the cause of the diseases then I will believe is a punishment from God.

I know some few people with the diseases, but I don’t really know them I’ve just been seeing them when we goes out to awareness programs

I think young people should be made to know that the disease is not a kind of a kid game and so young people must be extra careful about relationships. The youth should be educated on the use of condoms since we can’t abstain. My young friends, be smart like the eagle and don’t let yourself down.

There is much good info that is helping people with aids. There are announcements on the radio and television informing people to be close to Aids patients and to share house hold utensils with them. There is information that people with Aids should be offered jobs to cushion their financial problems. I think these are making people with aids to forget about the cross they are carrying and this can prolong their lives.

THE DEADLY HIV/AIDS DISEASE

One of the most deadly diseases, threatening to wipe away all humans from the surface of the earth, and take control of the world is the HIV/AIDS disease. Because of its threat, I make sure I live my life in a way that will not let me contract the disease.

We have been told that one can be affected by the disease mostly through having unprotected sex with an infected person, sharing needles with infected people, having blood transfusion  with an infected person, having the bodily fluid of an infected person coming into contact with yours and many others. We have also been told that almost every day, about 200 people in Ghana die from the HIV/AIDS disease and that if you want to lead a wholesome life, then you must apply the “‘ABC’” method which is:

A→ abstain from sex until marriage

B→ ‘be faithful to your partner’

C→ use a condom

Here in Ghana, it is not a taboo to talk about the disease. Younger ones and older ones can discuss it among themselves to help reduce the infection rate.

I don’t know about any particular person infected with the disease but the media has been showing pictures of some infected people during their adverts in campaigning about the disease.

To me, the best way to deal with people who are infected with the disease is to show them love, show compassion on them, and let the use their lifestyle example to advise the younger ones at the various schools.

There are good programmes like AIDS conferences, TV shows on how to prevent the disease, teen talks and so many other shows that are helping to combat the disease here in Ghana.

We are all praying and hoping that the contagion rate of the disease will reduce and we will be free from the deadly killer.

SELF PREVENTION FROM HIV/AIDS

The word HIV/ AIDS means Human Immune Virus/Acquire Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

The threat of HIV/Aids has influenced me not to involve my self in casual sex or have sex with different boys if even then I have to protect my self then.

When I was in school we were thought not to involve ourselves in casual sex so we

should be careful of ourselves.

It is not a taboo to talk about HIV/Aids but it is rather I talk about it to educate those that

don’t know how the disease to know about it so that they don’t get involve in early sexual

activities but rather they should prevent them selves from such things.

People I know that have this disease becomes weak in everything that they do and they

always complain of several sicknesses.

I think there should be a program that will educate the young to abstain from early sexual

activities so that they can’t be captured by the sickness.

There are many programs that is educating people very  well like Aids Talk Club that acts

some dramas on the Tele to influence us not to involve ourselves in miserable life that

will let us fall into dangerous sickness.
